How to Consign

General Consigning Information

• Gather up your children's gently used and outgrown clothing, toys, books, games, shoes, room decor, etc., and sell it all at Ready, Set, Grow! Kid's Sale.

• Consignors receive 70% of the selling price! Each consignor is charged a $12 registration fee, which will be taken out of your check at payout.

• Ready, Set, Grow! hosts two seasonal sales each year.

• Consignors set the price for their items, then prep, tag.

  • Minimum of 25 items or $50 whichever comes first to consign; maximum 200 items. 

• All consignors will be given a pre-sale pass (during drop off) to shop at 5pm on Wednesday night before the sale opens to the public on Thursday morning!!!!

• Check-in for consigned items will be Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of sale week.

• The Sale will be open to the public on Thursday 9am - 8pm, Friday 9am - 3 pm and Saturday 9am -3pm.

• Contact Ready, Set, Grow! with questions or if you need assistance getting started with consigning.

How to Get Started Consigning

Register through My Consignment Manager and the $12 registration fee will be taken out of your check at payout.

You, as the consignor, enter each child related item you wish to consign, set the price, enter the description, chose to discount or discount/donate the item if it does not sell, and print tags. It is your responsibility to check all your items for recalls. DO NOT CONSIGN RECALLED ITEMS!! They will be rejected from our sales floor.

After printing tags, please follow the instructions on the Prep/Tag section to get your items ready for dropoff.

REMINDER: ITEM ENTRY CLOSES AT 10:00pm Saturday before sale week!!

Prep/Tag

Shoes, Totes/Purses/Diaper Bags

All shoes must be in good wearable condition, season appropriate, clean and preferably zip-tied (or comparable method) SECURELY together. If zip tying is not possible, we ask they be placed in clear Ziplock bags. Do not tape tags to shoes. Do not pin tags onto bags if it will leave a hole. Hole punch the tag and tie onto the diaper bag/purse/tote handle with curling ribbon, thin twine or zip ties. Do not attach tag with tape if it will leave a sticky residue or ruin the fabric when removed.


Toys/Decor/Large Items/Misc

Be sure to use clear bags/cheap tote boxes/packing tape to keep toy parts together and place tag SECURELY onto item with packing tape or other means. We ask you use clear bags (such as Ziploc) to place smaller toys/multiple parts in, and that the tape is secure so shoppers won't misplace pieces. Please do not tape over toy's stickers, so that when the tape is removed, the toy's value is destroyed. All toys and equipment must be as clean as possible, have required pieces and be in working order - MUST have working batteries, if applicable. We will not have batteries to supply. 

You are welcome to use zip ties whenever applicable. Large clear bags are handy to put big toys and nursery/bedding in. You may recycle large plastic zipper bags (such as the ones bedding is bought in). If an item has pieces that are bagged and attached, it is recommended each bag have the seller number or it may not be reunited with the pieces should it become separated. Write your seller number with permanent black marker (Sharpie) on all Ziploc bags associated, in addition to the barcoded tag. Finally, make sure all pieces/bags to the item are secured together.


Oversized Items

Items that are large/bulky must have tags taped, tied or pinned in a spot that is easily seen by the shopper. All items deemed too large to be carried by shoppers will be assigned a two-part tag by sale staff after item Check-In and before beginning of sale.


Prepare Clothing Items

How to Hang Clothing for Consignment

Clothing must be STAIN FREE, TEAR FREE, SMOKE FREE, CLEAN, and CURRENT STYLING. Contact us if you have any questions!!

Use wire hangers. They take up less space and are more durable. Do not use hangers with any rust!! The rust will rub onto clothing! If you need wire hangers, we recommend finding someone who utilizes dry cleaners and ask them to save their wire hangers for you or purchase wire hangers at the dollar stores/discount stores. Be sure to try to find them early, because many places sell out near consignment season. All clothing MUST be put on hangers in the direction that makes the hanger face open toward the left - like a ? (question mark). All tags must be pinned on the right side of garment with a safety pin securely enough that they will not fall off during handling and shopping. We cannot guarantee we will be able to match up clothing with tags that have been misplaced. If pinning the tags on the right side of the clothing will cause a hole or blemish, please pin the barcoded tag on the thick part of the neck/collar, zipper or the size tag of the garment. Use large safety pins to attach multiple items to the hanger. Make sure clothing is secure on the hanger. Do not fold pants over the hanger... they must be pinned at the waistband to the upper part of the hanger. Shirt with large necks - be sure they are secured to the hanger or they WILL end up in the floor.

Do not pin anything to the bottom of a shirt! It will create holes, making your item unsalable. Pin all bottoms behind tops on the same hanger. Use appropriately sized safety pins and do not use straight pins!

"Regular" printer paper for tags

DO NOT use the "soft pins"; to pin your clothes! They will not hold, pop open and are generally hazardous to have on the shopping floor. Not to mention that your clothing will fall off hangers and onto the floor.


Discount and/or Donate

The sale will close for the season at 3pm CDT on Saturday. Saturday is also 1/2 price

day!! Your consigned items will not sell at 1/2 price unless you designate each individual item to be discounted! This is done when you enter your items.

We encourage you to mark your items to discount half price. This helps move your inventory that hasn't sold before the last day of the sale. Many people only shop the 1/2 price day, so this is something to consider taking advantage of. The goal is to sell, sell, sell the items that you consign so you have a larger payout!


Our registers will be set to honor 1/2 price tags on Saturday. Tags which are

marked DISCOUNT will be included in the 1/2 price sale on Saturday only.


The decision to donate unsold items is yours as the consignor to make. As you enter the information into My Consignment Manager to create your inventory and tags, you may select the option to donate. If you donate, we will be giving items on your behalf to selected local organizations Saturday night after unsold item pick-up time closes.

Pricing Items

Pricing begins at $2.00 per item, so if you have items that you wish to sell for less than

$2.00, please group them together (i.e.., 2 prs of pants for $3.50).

Please consider pricing your items at approximately 1/3 - 1/4 of original value. Adjust clothing pricing depending on wear. Remember that we cannot accept clothing with excessive wear. This will make for a better and more complete sell of your items! Sentimental overpricing will lead to slower sales of your items.

Item Dropoff

Item dropoff will take place at the front entrance of the Cave City Convention Center (Cave Area Conference Center),

502 Mammoth Cave Street in Cave City Ky 42127.


• Clothing MUST be sorted by gender, then by size *before* check-in. Clothing must be on hangers correctly, with tags pinned to the upper right side of the garment.

• Bring your sorted and prepped items during your scheduled check in time. We will have some racks available to help with bringing items in.

• We will inspect your items and then give you your presale wristband. *If you volunteer, please remind us so we give you the correct wristband.

• Check-Ins will only be accepted on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of sale week.

Presale Opportunity

Each consignor will receive a single shopping pass to attend the private Presale on Wednesday evening at 5pm. This Presale is available to consignors before the public sale opens on Thursday morning at 9am. 

Consignors who choose to volunteer, shop even earlier on Wednesay Presale.  

Unsold Item Pickup

Unsold Item Pick-Up will be the last day of the sale, Saturday. Sellers will be responsible for gathering their own items off the sales floor. There will be 2 time slots for item pickup depending on the first letter of YOUR LAST NAME. Letters A thru M will pickup 4:30-6:00pm. Letters N thru Z will pickup 6:00 - 7:30pm. Any items left after 7:30pm CDT will be donated to local charity on your behalf. Remember to check lost and found area for any of your items that may have gotten separated from its tag, this is your responsibility as the seller. 

Your online reports will be updated by 4pm CDT on Saturday, so you will know which of your items are sold/unsold.

Get Your Money

You will receive your payment via check. We will try our best to have checks ready for you at item pickup. However, if this is not possible or you choose to not pick up your items checks will be mailed within 5 business days.

You will be required to fix tagging issues before items are accepted onto the sales floor.

Children’s clothing and shoes which are seasonal must be consigned at the proper Seasonal Sale.

All Season Maternity clothing is accepted at all sales.

MATILDA JANE is accepted at each sale in all seasons/sizes (children and adult)

Cribs/Baby beds (manufactured after June of 2011) Toddler and Twin/Full beds

Other Children's Furniture (toy box, chest, changing table, etc.)

All home furniture (must be in very good to excellent condition)

Strollers/Highchairs/Booster Chairs Swings/Bouncy Seats Rockers/Gliders

Children' Room Decor (wall hangings, lamps, rugs, decorations, etc.)

Clothing girl’s: NB-18/20 

Womens Clothing (15 of your best items)

Feeding Utensils

Undershirts and onsies, along with CLEAN/STAIN FREE underwear are ok

Manual/hand breast pumps/Hakka

Willow and Elvie, wearable breast pumps are accepted (*Please contact us if you have one of these you want to put in our sale)

Bathtubs, Potty Chairs (MUST be disinfected)

Toys and Games

Learning Materials, Books, Home School Materials

Purses/Handbags/Totes (children’s/teens AND women’s)

Toys, Games, Puzzles, Books, Crafts

Large toys (outside toys such as houses/sand tables/bicycles/ride-ons/swings, etc. We ask they be free of sand and dirt - as clean as possible.)

Electronic Games and cartridges (must be in working order) DVDs, CDs (Please tape shut all games/DVDs. They can be inspected by buyers at checkout, so be sure the correct cartridge/disc is included.)

We do not accept electronics that cannot be tested at the sale site.

**Toys must be clean, have working batteries (if applicable) and in great working order.

The only plush/stuffed toys we accept are licensed character or animated.

All parts must be accounted for and either boxed or bagged with the toy. 

Baby/Child Equipment such as strollers, highchairs, etc., must be recent styles, clean, free of defects, not recalled and meet current safety standards.

Car Seats/Booster Seats must be accident free and not expired.

Furniture (all home furniture)

Seasonal Clothing Items

Clothing must be STAIN FREE, TEAR FREE, SMOKE FREE, CLEAN, and CURRENT STYLING.

Other misc items that are child/maternity related.

NO electric breast pumps will be accepted. (Contact us about wearable

breast pumps)

NO advertisement/date specific tees/clothing. School logo clothing is fine, as long as it

is not dated (i.e., Class of 2019)

NO formula

NO opened packs of diapers.

NO recalled items.

NO Children's jewelry.

No fast food/fair type toys

If you got it for free (happy meal toys, imagination library books, etc) then it’s not

accepted.

Vendor Availability

Ready, Set, Grow! has available lobby space at the Cave City Convention Center (Cave Area Conference Center) for vendor booths. These are independent businesses who cater to the Ready, Set, Grow! Kid’s Consignment clientele and each vendor is responsible for their own business within the confines of the Ready, Set, Grow! Vendor Agreement.
